22 coaches at institutions in San Miguel County earned $54,137 on average in 2022

San Miguel County’s 22 coaches earned an average salary of $54,137 in 2022, according to the U.S. Department of Education.

This is the fourth highest average salary per county earned by coaches at New Mexico post-secondary schools during 2022.

San Miguel County is home to two post-secondary schools that paid coaches during 2022. Among them, New Mexico Highlands University stood out with the highest average coaching salary of $55,536.

Male coaches of men's teams received $55,810 on average in San Miguel County, while female coaches in charge of women's teams earned an average of $50,135.

Research from the Vanderbilt Owen Graduate School of Management found NCAA coaches are compensated like CEOs, with top coaches earning more than $1.5 million annually.
