WINTER STORM WATCH IN EFFECT FROM TUESDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON...

* WHAT...Heavy snow possible. Total snow accumulations between 2 and

6 inches except between 6 and 10 inches above 7500 feet possible. Winds could gust as high as 55 mph.

* WHERE...South Central Mountains, East Slopes Sangre de Cristo Mountains, Far Northeast Highlands, Harding County, Johnson and

Bartlett Mesas Including Raton Pass, Union County, Southwest Mountains, West Central Mountains, and West Central Plateau.

* WHEN...From Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday afternoon.

* IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult. Tire chains may be necessary if traveling through mountain passes. Areas of blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions could impact the Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning commutes. Strong winds could cause extensive damage to trees and power lines.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Near blizzard conditions are possible at Raton Pass.
