Today Jesus Torres was sentenced to the maximum of 15 years in prison for second degree murder of his wife Elisa Garcia-Torres.
Jesus Torres was camping in Red River with his wife, Elisa Garcia-Torres, and other family members. After a brief argument, Jesus pulled out a .40 caliber handgun and shot his wife Elisa, killing her. Mr. Torres pleaded guilty to second degree murder on August 23rd, 2022.
“I am grateful the Judge sentenced Mr. Torres to the maximum amount of time in prison as Elisa has two teenage daughters who will forever be affected by his brutality and senselessness,” said New Mexico Attorney General Raúl Torrez.
