Possible Stolen Vehicle

It was great working with Costilla County Sheriff's Office again.  More good thing are forthcoming.

On Thursday October 20th 2022, Costilla County Sheriff Deputies responded to a property located off of County Road J.2 Southeast of San Luis in regards to a possible stolen vehicle out of Taos County. The vehicle was identified as the stolen vehicle from Taos County and proceeded to drive through adjacent properties damaging multiple fences before leading Costilla Deputies on a pursuit across the Colorado/New Mexico state line. With the assistance of Taos County Deputies the Vehicle and another stolen vehicle were located on Garcia road just south of Garcia, CO.

On October 21st 2022, a search warrant was executed on the same property the stolen vehicle had been contacted at on October 20th off of County Road J.2.

During the execution of the search warrant multiple vehicles, trailers, and other miscellaneous stolen items were collected from the property off of County Road J.2.  The Costilla County Sheriff's Office estimates the recovered value to be between $100,000 and $150,000.

We would like to thank the Taos County Sheriff's Office, Blanca Police Department, Conejos County Sheriff’s Office, and Colorado Division of Wildlife for the assistance in executing the search warrant on the property.

The investigation remains ongoing with both the Costilla County Sheriff’s Office and Taos County Sheriff's Office.
