The Carson National Forest Supervisor’s Office in Taos, NM, reopened to in-person services this morning. Forest users can now get information and purchase permits from staff at the office, which is located at 208 Cruz Alta, Taos, NM 87571.

Office hours are currently 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and may be adjusted at a future date. Permit sales are available between 8:30 and 4:00 p.m.

“I’m really excited to have our doors reopening to the public again,” said Acting Deputy Forest Supervisor Andrea Jones. “Even if virtual services have become more popular over the last few years, many members of the public want or need in-person services.”

The Forest transitioned to full virtual services in March 2020, when the COVID-19 pandemic began. Virtual services at the Supervisor’s Office continued for building remodeling, which was recently completed, paving way for today’s reopening.

In-person services are also available at the six ranger district offices in the region: Penasco, Questa, Tres Piedras, El Rito and Canjilon. Virtual and appointments scheduled ahead of time are Bloomfield. District ranger station addresses, office hours and phone numbers are listed online.

Visitors should always call ahead for permit availability and in case of office closures due to unforeseen circumstances, such as power outages, weather conditions or construction activities.
