This evening we learned that the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office aircraft, Metro 2, was involved in a crash near Las Vegas, NM. Preliminary information indicates that 1 Bernalillo County Fire Department employee and 3 Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office personnel were onboard at the time of the crash. There are no known survivors. These personnel were on a mission to assist fire crews with the East Mesa Fire.
Representatives from Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office are on scene along with the New Mexico State Police. Currently the investigation into this incident is in its preliminary stages.
