First Probable Case of Monkeypox

NMDOH reports the first probable case of monkeypox in New Mexico. Initial testing was completed late Friday by the Scientific Laboratory Division and confirmed testing is being completed at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The individual is doing well and isolating at home.

More information about monkeypox can be found at https://www.nmhealth.org/about/phd/idb/mpv/ and https://www.cdc.gov/poxvirus/monkeypox/.

Monkeypox symptoms can also mimic syphilis, which is much more common.  You can find free testing for syphilis and other sexually transmitted diseases at www.nmstdtest.org
