As many of you know, a severe storm called a snow squall hit the greater Taos area last December. It knocked out power and gas, slicked roads with thick ice and even blew off roofs!
In the Forest, trees were blown down. LOTS of them. As the snow began the melt this spring, crews, volunteers and partner groups were able to start to see the damage and got to work.
Today we launched a webpage to help visitors get a quick glance at all the popular front country trails severely affected by the storm on the Questa Ranger District (Taos Ski Valley and Red River areas), where the most severe impacts occurred.

It shows the status and condition. Some trails have already been cleared, like the Columbine, Williams Lake and Wheeler Summit trails (not to be confused with the Wheeler Peak Trail from the Bull of the Woods Trailhead).
It's not an exhaustive list, as we have not been able to get deep into some areas, but we hope this satisfies questions about the most in-demand trails.
The webpage will be updated as progress is made.
