The fire is increasing in activity based on the predicted Red Flag conditions we are currently experiencing over the fire area. The fire perimeter on the west side expanded to the northwest, toward Hamilton Mesa. The current weather front is driving the winds to the northeast. The fire will also continue to consume the interior islands of unburned fuel within the fire perimeter throughout today's burning period. In addition, all aircraft have been grounded because of the strong, erratic winds. The fire has not crossed the Hamilton Mesa Trail and continues to burn towards the northeast into the wilderness. The public will continue to see a large column of smoke from the increase in fire activity throughout the day. However, communities within the fire area are currently not at risk and no traffic corridors have been affected by the increase in fire activity.
