A soil burn severity map for the portion of the Forest hit by the Hermits Peak and Calf Canyon Fires has been released. Although the fire remains active, this rapid assessment of burned watersheds identifies imminent post-wildfire threats to human life and safety, property, and critical natural or cultural resources. It helps local entities know where to take immediate actions to implement emergency stabilization measures.
