Heavy helicopters, dipping out of heli-wells near Chacon and south of Angostura, will be active in the NM Highway 518 corridor over the next several days and could pose a hazard to drivers as they pass overhead. Please be aware of ongoing air and ground operations along HWY 518 and other roadways as they reopen, don’t stop in unsafe areas to watch firefighters or take pictures. Remain vigilant as heavy fire traffic will be in the area and might make sudden stops or turns.
Also remember that there is a Temporary Flight Restriction across the fire area which applies to all private drones. If a drone is launched within the fire area, all firefighting aircraft will be grounded for safety. If you fly, we can’t.
