Emergency Declaration

Fire

The Governor’ Executive Order is good news for our eastern neighbors in Mora and Colfax Counties. TCSO has been assisting Mora Co SO with evacuations and road closures this week - yesterday the Calf Canyon fire and Hermits Peak fire blew up and destroyed several homes along Hwy 94 and Hwy 105 just a few miles south of Mora.  The photos are of homes that LE evacuate only a few hours earlier.  The Cooks fire in nearby Ocate, NM is about 50,000 acres today.

* 04-23-2022.  Governor signs emergency declaration for Mora County.  The Declaration provides funding and other resources to support efforts related to wildfires

SANTA FE – Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham on Saturday signed an executive order declaring a state of emergency in Mora County, making funding and state resources available for communities battling ongoing wildfires. The emergency declaration follows similar declarations yesterday for Colfax, Lincoln, San Miguel, and Valencia Counties.

The executive order provides $750,000 for the Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management to assist the county with emergency measures, help prevent additional damages, repair public infrastructure, and lessen the overall recovery time. The executive order also authorizes the Adjutant General to activate the New Mexico National Guard for necessary support, in addition to directing all cabinet departments and agencies to assist with the state’s response.
