It remains at approximately 9,000 acres, and most of its growth has occurred on the northern perimeter. The fire is approximately 2 miles from Chacon, and further from Sierra Bonita and Guadalupita, and further still from Black Lake and Angel Fire. Containment remains at 0%, but dozer lines have been successful around much of the perimeter. No structures have been destroyed at this time.
Primary concerns are still Luna, Lujan and Bull canyons. Fire resources include 6 hand crews, 9 engines, 7 dozers, 4 helicopters, 2 water tenders and 274 fire personnel. Evacuations remain VOLUNTARY at this time. No evacuation orders have been placed. Members of the public should continue to avoid the fire area completely, including Forest Road 76 and all affected areas. Smoke is still visible in the surrounding communities of Angel Fire, Black Lake, Guadalupita, Mora and Taos. An interactive smoke map is on line at https://fire.airnow.gov/.
