City of Las Vegas NM issued the following announcement on Sept. 21.
Mayor Trujillo issued an executive order temporarily limiting access to the Gallinas Riverwalk. The public may continue to access the asphalt paved trail that runs parallel to the Gallinas River. Other activities, including squatting and camping on the Riverwalk, are explicitly prohibited. This limited access will be in effect from Wednesday, September 23, 2020 through December 31, 2020.
People failing to comply with the executive order will be removed from the Riverwalk, arrested and charged with public nuisance and/or criminal trespassing.
The temporary closure of the Riverwalk will enable the City and its partners to thin the brush along the river and to take other measures addressing public health and safety concerns.
