Cost of college went up for non-resident students at the University of New Mexico-Taos Campus

In-state tuition and fees fell 0.8 percent for 2018-19 at the University of New Mexico-Taos Campus, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

New Mexico residents paid $1,958 to attend the two-year public institution this year – $16 less than the $1,974 charged for 2017-18.

Non-resident students would have paid 150 percent more than residents this year, or $4,895. Non-resident tuition and fees grew 0.8 percent from $4,854 in 2017-18.

About 91 percent of the school's undergraduate population are New Mexico residents.

Data shows 81 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 56 students received grants or scholarships totaling $272,253 and 15 students took out student loans totaling more than $74,770.

Including all undergraduates (1,219), 520 students used grants or scholarships totaling $3 million, and 276 students took out $2.1 million in federal student loans.
