Carson National Forest issued the following announcement on Apr. 1.
The Carson National Forest is open for visitors who want to spend time outdoors. This is a great opportunity to explore your local area and find your favorite spot on the forest. At this time, recreation opportunities include hiking and biking on trails, dispersed camping, and other activities that support social distancing and small group sizes (less than 5 people). Anyone visiting the Carson National Forest needs to recreate in a self-contained manner (See photos for more guidance).
Currently most developed recreation sites on the forest are closed due to seasonal closures (are not accessible due to snow or their scheduled opening date is typically in May), or to protect public health by limiting the number of people at a site. Some recreational sites may be accessible, but the facilities are not open (restrooms) or do not have service (trash). All visitors need to be prepared to pack out all trash and dispose of human waste responsibly.
