Law enforcement has brought new charges against an accused child rapist, and also handed down a sentence against a former Colfax County sheriff's deputy in two separate cases that have garnered public interest.
KRQE reported Rollie Bruvold is already serving a 108-year prison sentence following his conviction for sexually abusing a child under the age of 13. Prosecutors presented new information, and a county grand jury has now added four new counts against Bruvold.
In 1985, evidence was presented stating that the assault occurred while Bruvold was camping with a child.
In the other case, per the Associated Press, former Colfax County sheriff's deputy Vidal Sandoval, 50, was sentenced to seven years in prison for drug trafficking and theft in New Mexico while in uniform, wearing a badge and driving a patrol car.
Evidence presented substantiated that Sandoval stashed $4,200 in the tailpipe of his truck, and accepted $10,000 to move cocaine through Colfax County. It was also determined that he stole more than $13,000 and marijuana from of two men.
In 2016, Sandoval pleaded guilty to one count of attempted possession with intent to distribute cocaine and two counts of theft of government property.
