The New Mexico Human Services Department recently announced it is adding a new mobile Income Support Division in Clayton.

The purpose of the mobile office is to offer services to individuals living in rural Union County, removing the need to travel hundreds of miles into the city to complete assistance applications.

The programs the mobile office helps with include financial and food assistance, and medical and employment assistance. The office will be open to serve customers on every second and fourth Thursday of the month at the Union County General Hospital in Clayton, according to KFDA.

Rep. Jack Chatfield (R-Mosquero) is pleased that the department is taking action to serve those who live farther away from service locations in New Mexico.

“I’m thankful the department is reaching out to the citizens who live in rural areas and look forward to working with them in building a better life for New Mexicans,” Chatfield said.
