The New Mexico House GOP recently released a statement on transparency rule changes in The House Rules & Order of Business Committee on its website.
"House Republican Leader Jim Townsend presented House Resolution 1 that will make public committee votes to table legislation," according to the press release.
As of now, House member votes to table bills can only be known if people watch committee proceedings, as they are not published. This resolution would require that those votes be made public.
This would be one of the three transparency changes sought by House Republicans, according to the press release.
The first resolution passed with a majority vote, with one representative dissenting and the other two are pending. Those two are expected to be fast-tracked.
The third resolution would require 24-hour notice be given to the public in the case of legislation that may be debated by the House of Representatives.
